My hash brown casserole was a bit under done. The potatoes had some crunch to them. A bit of salt and cream would have made a world of difference. The coleslaw was really good. It was very thin shaven and had plenty of creaminess with a nice light sharp flavor. I tasted my wife's mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole and both were very good. My only complaint would be that the pasta was overcooked in the mac and cheese. You could have spread it on toast.
The food is amazing. When they don't run out. Been there 3 times, 2 times they ran out of almost everthing. 1 time it was the best we've had in Chillicothe.
Average at best. BBQ is cooked well but very little flavor. Onion rings soggy and mac & cheese needs a lot of salt and pepper. On a positive note, in house sauces are good and portion size on my platter was large. I’d probably pass on eating here again.
When we first walked in, the place has this old diner feel. The hostess was friendly and the wait staff was very attentive. The first thing that I noticed, is that there was no smell of smoke in the restaurant. You would have thought that the smell of smoke off the food would have added an aroma to the restaurant. Even with the barbecue pits out back you still would have thought the parking lot would have smelled like smoke, it did not.
My wife and I both got the pork and brisket dinner. I got coleslaw and hash brown casserole, she got mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. The brisket was very dry. The pork was very juicy almost a little greasy, but it had very good flavor. However, everything was devoid of smoke. If you're going to have Smoke House in your name the meat should have that sharp smell and taste of the wood over which that the meat was cooked.
Working here from Indianapolis and decided to give it a go. Awesome food and awesome/friendly service. Got the brisket/chicken/pork combo with hashbrown casserole and mac. Will be back while i'm here to give the steak a try.
I stopped for a lunch break around 2pm. Oh my word, not only was the food amazing, Nikki was wonderful! I will definitely be back!! Try the sweet potato casserole!!
We opened with the fried pretzel bites with cheese. They were tasty but during the frying process the pretzel salt fell off. Were that salt there, it would have been really good. However, without it they were slightly bland.
Overall, I don't think I would go back to have dinner there. If I was going down to pick up some take out pork, I would make the trip.
